At the Airport
We wanted to do a trip so Tristan can get use to the airport experience. In his first four years with us, we were not really able to do a trip due to a whole global pandemic thing. Since things have gotten better, we were more open to the idea of going somewhere via plane.
Nationals vs. Orioles
As soon as we had gotten ourselves settled in DC, we had a baseball game to catch. The home team was up against my second favorite team, the Orioles. The environment at the park was awesome and there were some perks for families as well. However, we didn’t stay the whole game as we were all a bit tired from a day of traveling.
National Mall
The following day was a day at various museums, the main one being the natural history museum. Other museums were not very kid friendly so we had to steer clear. Tristan did have a blast looking at the skeletons and the dioramas of a land lost to time.
Hillwood Estate
This estate is a tourist attraction that is off the beaten path but is a must. Unfortunately, the weather was not cooperative and we not able to fully appreciate what the estate had to offer this time. Thankfully, there was an event for the kiddos that we planned to do and it was still a nice visit.
Mount Vernon
After a few days of gloomy weather, the sun finally shone brightly for our trip down the Potomac River. George Washington’s estate at Mount Vernon is another must-see on any visit to DC. The property boasts stunning scenery and is steeped in history about the first President of the United States.
